Independent Living Skills
Independent Living at The Yellow House is designed to equip students with essential life skills, preparing them for the next stages of adolescence and adulthood. The course offers a wide range of practical topics that focus on building independence and confidence for life beyond The Yellow House.
With over 15 units to choose from, the program is highly flexible and personalized to meet the individual needs and abilities of each learner. Units cover vital areas such as Food and Health, Learning About Workplaces, Food Preparation and Cooking, Maintaining Healthy Skin and Nails, and Managing Money, ensuring a well-rounded skill set for independent living.
Students have the opportunity to select the units that align with their personal goals and interests. Units are certificated through the AQA Unit Award Scheme.
The course is assessed through practical tasks and activities, allowing students to demonstrate their understanding in a way that suits their learning style. This flexible approach means we can be creative in how lessons are delivered, making learning both enjoyable and relevant to real-life situations.
Our small group settings and one-on-one lessons ensure that every student receives tailored support, allowing us to accommodate a wide range of learning needs and help all students achieve success.
